Hanalei Valley viewed from the lookout near Princeville. One of the most spectacular vantage points on the North Shore of Kauai, the turn off as you descend into the Hanalei Valley offers a pretty amazing view – especially when it’s not all that cloudy. Hanalei means “lei making” in Hawaiian. Alternatively, the name Hanalei also means crescent bay and may be indicative of the shape of Hanalei Bay.
